Link Audio Design
Classic console equalizer with new features and modern signal path.
Link Audio has recreated the classic E-series console equalizers for the 500-series. They have taken the two most popular versions of the his EQ, the Brown and Black, and added high- and low-pass filters for extra flexibility.
BROWN VS BLACK VERSIONS
The 4000-series consoles were packed with several different equalizer modules, which are identified by the color of the caps on the LF knobs. The Brown version was the earliest. It features +/-15dB boost/cut on each band, and is sometimes described as having a "grittier" sound than the Black. The later, Black version increased the maximum boost/cut to +/-18dB on each band. This version is known for saturating nicely when the boosts are cranked.
